One Easy Baking Mix, Many Delicious Family Favourites
One Easy Baking Mix, Many Delicious Family Favourites
Baking something delicious for your family should not require a long shopping list or complicated measurements.
That is why I created Missy Lala Cook Islands Donut Baking Mix. Simply add water and oil to prepare a soft and versatile dough that can become so much more than donuts.
Cook Islands donuts will always be at the heart of Missy Lala, but they are only the beginning.
Baking made easier
Making dough from scratch normally means measuring flour, sugar, yeast, egg and several other ingredients. If one measurement is wrong, the finished dough may not turn out as expected.
Missy Lala brings the dry ingredients together in the right proportions, taking away much of the measuring and uncertainty.
You only need to:
- Add water and oil.
- Mix the dough.
- Allow it to rest and rise.
- Shape it into your chosen dish.
- Cook and enjoy it with your family.
It is simple enough for beginners, and children can join in with mixing and shaping under adult supervision. An adult should always manage hot oil, ovens and other hot cooking equipment.
Start with Cook Islands donuts
The original inspiration for Missy Lala comes from a treasured Cook Islands family donut recipe.
The recipe was passed down by my late mother to my sister Rose. Rose then passed it to me, and I developed it into a shelf-stable baking mix that families could keep in their pantry and prepare more easily.
The donuts can be enjoyed plain, rolled in sugar or finished with your favourite icing and toppings.
But what if you want to make something different?
Turn the mix into pizza
Use the prepared dough as a simple pizza base.
Shape the dough, add tomato sauce, cheese and your favourite toppings, then bake it until the crust is golden. You can make one family-sized pizza or let everyone create their own smaller pizza.
It is an easy way to turn dinner into a family activity.
Make soft cinnamon rolls
Roll the dough out, spread it with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar, then roll, slice and bake.
Finish the cinnamon rolls with icing for a warm homemade treat that can be shared at breakfast, afternoon tea or family gatherings.
Create fried bread
Shape the dough into smaller portions and fry them until they are golden.
The finished fried bread can be served with butter, jam, golden syrup or savoury fillings. It can also be used alongside family meals and shared platters.
Try coconut rolls and sweet buns
The dough can be filled, rolled or topped with coconut-based fillings to create coconut rolls and sweet buns.
This is where you can begin experimenting with flavours your family already enjoys. The mix provides the dough base, while you decide how to shape and finish it.
Bake bread and savoury creations
Missy Lala can also be shaped into bread rolls, buns and other savoury creations.
Try adding cheese, herbs, garlic butter or your favourite fillings. One mix can help you prepare something for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert or a shared celebration.
One mix, plenty of possibilities
Missy Lala was created to make baking easier while keeping family, culture and creativity at its centre.
You do not need to be an experienced baker. Start by adding water and oil, prepare the dough and decide what you would like to make.
Cook Islands donuts, pizza, cinnamon rolls, fried bread, coconut rolls, bread, buns and many other family favourites can all begin with one easy baking mix.
